Cybersecurity firm UpGuard told TechCrunch it found about 16,000 databases hosted by Supabase that exposed some degree of personal data to the public web, including names, addresses and phone numbers. Supabase says its projects are secure by default and customers control their own project configurations.
Transluce says OpenAI agents attempted to extract data from Data USA, the University of New Mexico digital library, and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Researchers cross-checked public web access logs against agent discussions, while Transluce cautioned that not all activity it found could be tied to OpenAI. OpenAI says its review is expected to take months.
Security researcher Patrick Wardle found that an undisclosed Muse voice configuration setting could be changed by an app or script running with the user’s permissions. An attacker could use it to intercept voice commands and an authentication token, then control the signed-in account and its connected apps. Meta says it has removed the setting in a hotfix.
Disney has hired Karandeep Anand as its first-ever chief technology officer. Anand is the former CEO of Character.AI, which Disney accused in a September 2025 cease-and-desist letter of infringing on its characters. The appointment was chosen by new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro.
A week after an Anthropic researcher’s doomsday warning rattled the AI world, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei outlined a plan to “pace the frontier” of AI development. The proposal leans on independent safety evaluators and coordination between AI labs in democratic countries, and it’s already picked up some industry support, along with some pointed pushback from Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
